The Hobbit Trilogy

Post  VirtualDalek on Tue 15 Jan 2013, 22:25

Went to see the first one last saturday, loved it! Funny how after 10 years the actors barely look any
older!

The 3 hours went by quickly and kept me interested the whole way through, Martin Freeman was great as the Hobbit and Sylvester McCoy as Radagast was hilarious.

I'll spare you all from spoilers for those who haven't seen it yet, but I definately recommend it, great film, great follow-up/prequel to LOTR. Very Happy

It was a great movie! My favorite character must have been Thorin, he just looked so epic in those battle scenes. The film does seem a bit padded out though, for such a short book.

Watched the LotR trilogy before I went to see it. It really has gotten me into the whole middle-earth lore. The Dwarves are so funny, and moving at times. Can't wait for the rest of them.

Really great film! I especially loved all the extra detail they added into it too. The Hobbit was originally more of a children's book, thus a bit more tame and less fit for a blockbuster. All of the necromancer stuff, as well as the white orc chase idea really helped to bring the action to life a lot more, making the plot a lot less linear as it is in the book. Multiple interweaving storylines take it to a whole new level in my opinion, you see.
I wasn't expecting much from Sylv if I'm honest. I'd heard reviews claiming he'd turned into the Jar Jar Binks of LOTR, but nonetheless, I really loved the character he brought to the piece, proving both an entertaining interlude, and an interesting parallel to Gandalf I felt.

Next is 'The desolation of smaug' not sure when exactly, but this year. My guess would be around the same time, around December.

Looking forward to it! If the next two are anything like the first one, they'll all be great. Very Happy
